![]() Just the $.02 from a rig diver and a JBL faithful. These are guys that have been spearing fish for 15 years. I brought in my Rob Allen and my Wong to show them, and they had never seen or heard of either brand. ALso, JBL is what the dive shops around here sell. I know some folks rig dive with Riffe's with 3/8" shafts, but I would bet that 90% of all Scuba Rig dives are made with JBL's. Longer reloads, and the fish seem to fight harder on a thin shaft. I have tried my Rob Allen on a rig scuba dive, but it just doesn't produce like my JBL's. If you have 6 of them on the boat, you can get parts and make the next dive. You will kill more and bigger fish if you are not worried about losing your gun.Įasy to fix them on the boat. You will have guns ripped out of your hands or have to ditch in an emergency. You can almost load them with your eyes closed, or on your next fish. Line about 4 fish up on the shooting cable, then string them on your way up. We can shoot a fish, put the shaft back on the gun and shoot another. More cable means more problems when you are at 150' with a fish wrapped around the whole damn rig. With a lineshaft, and a bunch of pipes in the water, a single wrap of cable is the safest way to go. JBL tips hold great and really do a lot of damage. A heavy 3/8" shaft puts a thumpin' on a fish, really slows them down. You have to put the hurt on your fish, or he'll drag your ass to the bottom in 400'. ![]() Just stick the shaft in and load the rubbers. You don t even have to string the cable over the release. The jbl mech releases clean, and never hangs in the bands on the way out. It Must Be A Lot Harder To Type Like That, Too.įor Scuba Rig diving, you just can't beat a JBL.I shoot the Woody Magnum and Gulf Magnum XHD.here's why. I'm not trying to get on your case, I'm honestly just wondering why you do it. ![]() There is a reason why we only capitalize proper nouns in the middle of English sentences. NOTANX, as I browse through your posts, I ask myself: "Why does he capitalize random words in the middle of sentences?" It makes it much harder to read, not to mention that it is gramatically incorrect. Mike At Florida Freedivers (561) 848-0678 Sells Them As Well As The Rob Allens And The Other Guns. Undersee Australia Has A Small Railgun, Which Appears Well Built And I Believe They Might Be In The Range You Are Looking For. I Would Spend The Extra Money And Get A Rob Allen. You May Have The Intentions Of Going Out To Shoot Small Fish, But You Know Whats Going To Happen When The Big Black Peaks Out. The Are Relatively Cheap, However As In Most Things You Get What You Pay For. As Far As The Omer It Is Designed For Freediving Where It Is Beneficial To Have A Light, Fast, Agile Gun. Generally Speaking The Jbl's Are Considered A "scuba" Gun. I too would choose an Omer for freediving, but I would choose a JBL over ther Omer for scuba any day of the week. Omer's can be shot further because of the band stretch, but any gun shooting a shaft smaller than 9/32" should shoot a long way. I hope one of the Magnum 450 XHD guys on here will jump in and provide an example of one of the many fish they have shot from long range, with little shaft drop. ![]() Not all JBL's shoot heavy shafts, and many many do not drop on average to long range shots. Matter of fact, I believe that JBL makes a longer gun than Omer, I also think that they both use the same standard one inch barrel in their aluminum guns. ![]() Not all JBL's are short, nor are all of them stocky. I have a feeling that one of the rig divers will jump on you for that. i know omers are intended for freediving but i would rather use one for anything than a jbl Jbls are short and stocky with heavy shafts that drop alot when shot, omers have very light shafts that can be shot farther w/ only one band which has a farther band stretch to gun length size. ![]()
